The best thing out the Wii Fit...

The best part of the Wii Fit? Since getting it six weeks ago, I have lost 6 pounds!!! I've been doing it 5-6 times a week for about an hour (once a day) and giving myself one night off where I can just relax (and let my body rest).

I got this for my birthday on the 28th of August and I was so happy I hugged my mum, hugged my dad and hugged my mum again. I've been trying to lose weight for over a year now and I've lost a few pounds here and there, but I've always put it back on, because, doing excercise is so borrrrrrring, and, because I don't have a car I can't really go to a gym every night after work (as I do shifts it really isn't practical anyway).

At first the excersises are easy. When you first start using the Wii Fit you get basic excersises like a three minute session with a hula hoop, a short jogging circuit and a basic stepping program. BUT as you build up time, you unlock more excercises and harder levels to those excercises. (Note: the recommendation with the jogging is that you put the Wii mote in you back pocket and jog, I say ignore this, have the Wii mote in your hand, it makes it soo much harder to do (and brings up your pulse rate a lot more) and I think you burn more calories this way (despite what the burn rating the Wii Fit gives me).

The boxing is great too, when you get to the Super Advanced Level (I had trouble when I started the advanced level, because the routine was so different from the basic one, but once you got that down, the super advanced one is easy). You have a guy in front of you boxing a rhythm, which you have to follow. Fun, but it's sometimes easy to lose concentration after a while and mess up.

The only problem that I have had with the Wii Fit is that after about five weeks of using it, the Wii Fit started to lose connection with the Wii, cleaning my Wii mote and the sensor seems to have fixed it.

Mii Get Fit With Wii Fit!

This is a great game/fitness package that should encourage even the most exercise-phobic among us to have a go. It is brilliant entertainment for all ages too, not just for kids. I suffer from neck, back and knee problems, so I'm very restricted in what exercises I can do. Having tried out a friend's Wii Fit, I now plan to get one of my own! Not only does the range of exercises give me a variety of options (and for the fitter among us too), but it is also great fun and great for motivation, and best of all, you can share it with your family and friends.

It has useful fitness settings which measure your BMI and weight, and allows you to set yourself realistic goals. Each time you use the Wii, it reminds you of your last achievements and gently reprimands you if you haven't been so good! With the ability to creat your own fun 'Mii' (a caricature of yourself which represents you in the various activities), it also keeps track of your personal bests, encouraging you to aim that little bit higher.

The only downsides I could find are that it doesn't include warm up or cool down sections, which are an important part of safe exercising, although it does remind you to warm up first. Maybe this will be an improvement Nintendo can add, to download via the wireless internet connection that the Wii also provides?

Overall, great fun with real family participatory appeal. Definitely recommended for everyone, young and old!

Great for the un-fit!

My husband bought this for my birthday, I'm 36 and a bit on the chunky side. I love it, I noticed a difference in myself after only a week of using it. The instructor is encouraging and it makes you feel good to beat your own record. The balance games are really fun and I love the yoga. I have a joint condition and the vast majority of exercises are easy on my joints, although at first on a couple of the muscle exercises my knees got a twinge, I found I could still achieve the goal without bending so deeply, which causes me pain. Now I rarely have a problem. The aerobic exercises are fun and work up quite a sweat without being harsh on your joints. Perfect for people who want to exercise but cannot for medical reasons join a gym or go for a real jog.

Great game!

Not sure if you would class Wii Fit as a game as such? its more of an excercise tool- although some of the games are fun!

I saved up to buy this and was hoping it would be worth it after all the hype! i'm happy to say i am very pleased with it and can see why it gets such good ratings. It's very handy having something that will check your weight as well as telling you your BMI. It allows you to set yourself realistic goals in terms of weight loss and it warns you if you set something unrealistic (e.g. lose a stone in a week!). I do Yoga anyway and was pleased the poses are real - albeit quite hard to get used to balancing on the Wii fit board. The balance games are more like games so any age would enjoy them - whereas some of the muscle work outs might not be suitable for young kids. The jogging is cool too!. If i had to choose something i didnt like about Wii Fit - i think it would be the stupid voice that tells you its 'intialising or ready'. I also would like a wider range of trainers to choose from with different voices.

I the Wii Fit is very clever - getting people to do excercise and it's in the same league as Brain Training.

The only thing is... will the novelty wear off? i'll have to wait and see....

p.s i would recommend the silicon cover for the Wii Fit board as it helps you to grip as well as showing where to place your feet. It also helps keep the board clean.

Love Wii Fit!!!

I spent many many weeks using a stock checker and failing to get my hands on one every time. I didnt want to pay over the odds and I didnt want an overpriced "package" that most suppliers who get their hands on stock seem to be doing. So after much diliberation I armed myself with google translator and set off to amazon.fr to order one the last week in August. I paid £76/77 (including shipping) for one with an expected delivery date of 26th Sept.

On 12th Sept I received an email which, once translated, told me my Wii Fit had been despatched and was on its way via DHL :-). On Tues morning (16th Sept) it arrived - how excited was I?? I couldn't wait to get home from work to play lol.

I love it!!! All though I have to say I'm not very good at slalom skiing or tightrope walking. I love being able to practice my yoga again and think the jogging is great - its hilarious!!

The only downside is the only decent telly in our house is in the front room so everyone else is missing programs they want to watch because they cant get me off my balance board!!!!
