This is a good sign, I think.

Also, Boston Husi Lunch arrangements

So last night at bedtime, I was sleepy so I went upstairs and started changing into my pajamas. Silas (the cat) ventured down from his hideout in the attic and sat with me on the bed for a good long while, purring while I skritched his neck and petted him. I miss my kitty.

The regular reader of these diaries will recall that he's not getting along with Rusti, the newly-introduced 6.5-year old Jack Russell terrier we inherited from toxicfur's mom.

The gang came back from their bedtime romp in the yard. When we heard sounds of people (toxicfur) and dogs downstairs, Silas perked up his ears and (mostly) stopped purring. The telltale clickety-click of dog toenails on hard floors brought him around to the other side of me, further from the door, fully alert now.

He decided it was time to make his exit, so he jumped down from the bed, and when Rusti came bounding up the stairs and started into the bedroom, Silas was perhaps four feet away from her, likewise bound for the bedroom door. (The hallway to the attic stairs is right outside the bedroom door.)

Instead of the expected explosion, Silas growled a little, pretty quietly, and I called Rusti's name in a somewhat threatening tone of voice.

Rusti immediately looked away, turned sideways, paused for half a second, and went back down stairs.

Silas made good his escape.

So I'm a bit more hopeful that eventually they'll be able to cohabitate, even if they never become best buddies.

It looks like we'll be doing Husi Lunch on Thursday the 28th at 12:30. Comments, confirmations, etc. would be appreciated. Even johnny might come to town.

I deleted 5 spam accounts yesterday. Each posted one spam comment only, and, like the idiot this guy was, he posted them to my stories, otherwise long since done accreting new commentary. Subtle much? Didn't think so.
